National Association of Social Workers | Work done while at GRAPHEK

We work with NASW, designing their quarterly publication, Social Work Advocates. Each publication included three feature articles that often touch on complex subjects, with illustrations that communicate and speak to these subjects and at least 30 pages of departments.

In my role as lead designer, I art directed the entire publication, illustrated the second feature article and managed the process from start to finish, including production, print, and layout.

This concept shows a politician cutting slices of bread and letting them fall directly into the trash, emphasizing the wastefulness of these social safety net cuts. The items on the table hint at the effects of the cuts, such as, a half-empty glass and a bottle of milk, a mostly empty bowl of fruit, an overdue medical bill, a wallet, a weekly pill planner, and a prescription pill bottle. Throughout the article, other objects fall from the table into the trash, including a Medicaid card and a SNAP card falling from a wallet.
